Taking The Lead....
Monday, Monday!
Don'tcha just lurve those times when, with just 15 minutes to go, to get asked
'Cass, can you do us a favour? There's some new starters at the company and they're having their induction day today. D'ya mind doing a presentation of what I.T does?'
'When sweetie?'
'Oh, like is 15 minutes? Be a doll. Thanks.'
Oh...great!
So, quick check on my drive for the aforementioned presentation, quick wee, fill up my water bottle/mug of tea, and i'm hot footing down the corridor to the meeting room, complete with 5 newbies; 2 gals, 3 guys....log in, get the big overhead screen going, sip of tea....then I'm off an waffling on all things I.T; the systems that we use, all that good stuff with a few laughs, a few winks at the boys and 45 minutes later, it's all done.
Think they enjoyed it.
Then Today - Wednesday, Wednesday - I have the poor souls again, this time for a couple of hours, on the ol' interactive use (practical stuff) on those self same systems. Can't really sexy up the talk to make it remotely exciting but I think they get the gist the systems. The applied themselves pretty decently and did well.
The guys...well...one of them....not sure if he's ever been around someone so cool, casual ( At various points I was sitting on desks!) and relaxed.....The others were smiling. Think the girls liked me too.
So...not a bad day today; even though I wasn't aware at the start of the week that they'd be new starters, and thrown in at the deep end on the introductory day, I had a feeling I was going to do the training today.
Keeps the days interesting, I guess. Better than just answering the phones and resetting passwords!
