Have y’all ever had to make a tough choice if you chose to leave your current job to you former job?

So I currently work at an autism school for grades kindergarten through 12th grade. I’ve been working there for a year and I do like it. I work with kindergarten which is tough but we’ve seen a lot of progress to far.

One of my former bosses called me up last Thursday and was discussing about next year and they would really like for me to come back to work at my former job/school which is also a special needs school but it’s a private school. You see, I worked for three years and that’s when covid hit and got laid off. I focused on my college classes. Last year I asked if I can come back and she told me they couldn’t offer me employment at the time I would have to wait until October.

I was on unemployment. I had to look for another job. It wasn’t because they didn’t want me there, they thought me focusing on school was the best option. They are willing to pay more and they do pay for breaks and vacations. They do have benefits. If I do decide to go back, I would start back January of 2023.

My current job has benefits, PTO, PSL but don’t pay for breaks or vacations. I do like the job I’m at but frankly I do miss my old job and want to go back, but I don’t wanna just leave. It would be nice to have a job that’s close to where I live again. My current job is like 20-25 minutes from my house which isn’t bad either. I am just getting to know the students I’m currently working with and have a great team but I don’t want them to think I’m just going to leave.

I gotta do what makes me happy. I still haven’t decided but I’m given about two - three weeks notice so make a decision if I wanna go back. The admin and my current team doesn’t know about it but I will have to tell them eventually. It wasn’t my choice to leave my former job and I didn’t wanna leave. I’ll make a decision. I don’t wanna stress myself out and overthink if I do go back. I know I can’t make everyone happy but like I said I gotta do what makes me happy.

You'll never make everyone happy. You have to do what's best for YOU.
@DCarey True. The only person I can make happy is myself.
