I got the job!

YAY!

More money.
More research, and much less "clerical" work.
I will be working directly for my boss' boss.

I do not know yet when I officially start. In any event, I am in the middle of two projects which still must get done. Then after I will start new things. My office supports three statistical surveys, yet I mostly just worked on one. Now I will expand to the other two. So much to learn! I hope they ease me into it!

I should have a drink now (I am at lunch) but I have to go back to work after.

Again, YAY!

My sammich just arrived!

Double yay!

It is a nice promotion, yet does not require my to lead or supervise people. I was promoted for my technical skills.

I was a GS 12. But I was at the top of the ladder for my position, and had been for many years.

Now I am a 13 with promotion potential to a 14. Whoohoo.

Although I did not need the money. But I will get a larger pension. Still, I would trade it in for early retirement!

@JoyfulSilence larger pensions are really great

I should go buy a house in a desert.

@JoyfulSilence They say Phoenix is likely to be uninhabitable by 2050!

I am thinking of something with more altitude so it is cooler. Also maybe NM since AZ is a red state. Or CA? But CA people are odd.

Or maybe I should buy two houses?

NM and MT? ( ID? WA? OR? ME?)
