just looked at calender, did the math, and realized it is my 38th anniversary working full time

may 1984 i still remember and many other dates. sadly i will have continue full time until i collapse. the 2008-10 recession ended my 24 year career and kicked my ass, ruining my chance of normal retirement others enjoy. even with all i have saved\invested. a generation ago everyone i knew retired at age 55 with pension, medical insurance, early social security, and so many other perks that no longer exist.😔

I retired in 1997 at 45 when ENRON offered me a one year pay off or move to Chicago. I knew they were going to go under at that time so I took the money as I had a lot of stock and had gone through 7 splits. So I got my SEC licenses for mutual funds and stocks. I moved my wife's stock and mine both into other stocks, funds and other investments. I have been happily ever after as I started my own consulting business and only worked two or three days a week making over 100K per year. I don't think I will really ever totally retire as I love working.
