Would you settle for a salary lower than your last drawn or current salary?

The HR of a potential employer asked me if I can come down on my salary expectations.
My last drawn salary is a little over 5000 pounds or approx 7000 USD a month and she wanted me to settle for 20% lower than that.

Would you do that?

I would only accept such a cut if I could work 20% fewer hours!

I have been at the same job for 23 years and I have never gotten a pay cut. I have been promoted and that is always an increase, and then we get annual increases due to inflation.

I hope it all works out for you and you enjoy the job and can live comfortably.
