Would you settle for a salary lower than your last drawn or current salary?

The HR of a potential employer asked me if I can come down on my salary expectations.
My last drawn salary is a little over 5000 pounds or approx 7000 USD a month and she wanted me to settle for 20% lower than that.

Would you do that?

Am I asking for above the average wage for the position I'm offered???

Can I afford to hang out in my current job for a while longer???

Would the proposed wage still be something I can live off???

You've left a lot unanswered for people to make a fair determination...

@HootyTheNightOwl You are viewing this from a survival point of view. I am asking the question from an ambitious perspective. There comes a point in your professional life when you move beyond survival needs.

Who is asking for above the average wage? The post clearly indicates that the employer is asking to settle 20% below the existing or last drawn salary. And the last drawn or existing salary is as per industry standards.
