Would you want to be a truck driver?

Sounds like there's quite a demand.

I could see it being a good option for young folks. Might be too old for it.
Rutterman · 46-50, M
No. Seems like it would be a hard, physically demanding job. Plus, I prefer to drive as little as possible.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
@Rutterman I get so tired. Especially when di ing in the cities. The main highways are all tore up.
Valerian · 100+, M
@Rutterman after purusing the videos posted in r/idiotsincars on Reddit, you will make it even less.
And I figure it's likely 99x worse than shown, since not everyone has Dashcams.
BananaBrown · 41-45, F
I have great appreciation for those that do, but I have no desire to drive trucks. That’s a lot of sitting.
nah, so many truck drivers are super grumpy. I imagine it is because they have to be alone so much.
Lostpoet · M
No it's boring af and I don't want to get fat.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
@Lostpoet probably hard to get in that 7000 steps a day.
Lostpoet · M
@Tastyfrzz I had a job that was kind of truck driver related.
If you seen how I drive my little Nissan, you wouldn’t trust me with an 18 wheeler.
meggie · F
No I get nervous on the roads and only drive short distances.
SinlessOnslaught · 26-30, M
I'm gonna get a CDL just to fall back on if something happens to my job.
HannahSky · F
No, but if you like driving it's a good job 🚚
GunFinger · F
I think it's worse than a FIFO job if you have a family. Driving trucks could take you away from your family for up to 6 months, depends what goods you're carrying and the destination.
GunFinger · F
Right. A good option for young and single people.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
@GunFinger fifo?
GunFinger · F
@Tastyfrzz fly in, fly out.
Ryansgrampy · 80-89, M
Not anymore, 32 years OTR was enough.
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
Yes. A roadtrain in Australia
NickiHijab · F
Nah. I haven't drove for most of this year because of my health so I feel like I have to teach myself how to drive all over again. I definitely wouldn't start with a lorry/truck
Pfuzylogic · M
Chiropractor gave me a map of my spine. It showed where I would be vulnerable to back pain after a day of driving.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
Sounds like it only pays $16 an hour and there are a lot of risks.
@Tastyfrzz One of my friends makes $27/hr +full bennies, only drives within the state
my husband was one
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
I thought about it
Slade · 56-60, M

(And a gun)
empanadas · 31-35, M
My uncle and my friend that owns a trucking business. They make really good money. 300k at least
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
@empanadas is that long distance or local?
empanadas · 31-35, M
@Tastyfrzz long distance but still within state. They were in California
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
@empanadas I know a kid that should do it. Just sitting at home taking care of his grandmother now. She should really go back into the senior living place she was at before he husband died so she can be with her friends.
