If i lowballed myself when they asked me about salary expecation, and they say this is a little more than your salary requirements, can i negotiate?

Yes, you could be happy youre getting more than you expected, but they still could be lowballing you based on their pay grade range. It was a verbal offer, or notification that they're going to send me an offer, but I don't want to leave any money on the table

If its a low offer, its likely expected that you would want to negotiate.

So nothing wrong in doing so. Obviously dont be unrealistic with your numbers . Good luck!

@Kae20 you might misread my question. Their offer is going to be more than what my salary expectations were, because they told me after they asked. So even though its more than what I said I was expecting (but they haven't told me the amount yet) can I negotiate for more?

@MntoNc I see appolgies, I did misread.

In that case ..if out of the gate they are already offering you more..than you expected you are already winning.

You may instead wish to focus on the rising pay scale - the terms & when you should expect an increase?

Something to look forward to 🙂

@Kae20 have you worked in hr at all? I know they have budgets, so once they make an offer with a number on it, i can't negotiate that can I? I just don't want to leave money on the table, lol

@MntoNc Yes you are right in HR there is usually a set pay scale for each post.

So if you are ahead already would be unwise to haggle it.
