If a company wants to hire you but asks you to switch banks because the bank you use isn't familiar to them. Would you find this suspicious?

I don’t know. When I had my first job at 14 at Burger King they made me open an account at a bank of their choice where they deposited the money. It was the only bank they used

You definitely do not have to switch banks. Keep your account(s) at the bank that you are currently with and just open a second account at the bank they want you to open at

I believe you can have accounts in more than one bank. I worked for a company that would do direct deposit in an account in its bank. I set up an account there and kept my other accounts. When I got paid I would take all the money out and put it in one of my other accounts.

@hippyjoe1955 you most certainly can. I have accounts at several different banks

I would refuse to change banks.

A company often has set up direct deposit arrangements with a particular set of banks.

Back in the Dark Ages, when my employer switched from mailing paper checks to electronic deposits, we were given a list of banks to choose from.

They don’t have a right to get into your personal banking that way. Probably trying to help someone out with sending them more business or whatever.

Its their money. But just open a new account with them, then set up a regular transfer to your old bank and account, just in case

No employer should care what bank you use.

Can’t imagine that scenario today
