@SatanBurger they lose money when you cancel.
The cable companies won't even let you do it online. You have to talk to somebody who will often offer freebies or lower the cost for a while.
Had the done that at the beginning may you wouldn't want to leave :)

@SatanBurger No, it really IS a pain to cancel. Go in-person, talk to some "special" rep with an attitude between the hours on 2:00 and 2:05 PM on a Tuesday, hope they are not on vacation (again), bring your first born as a sacrifice, etc.
But related to what @Pretzel said about cable companies, I imagine one could call and threaten to cancel just to get a lower price. Might be worth a try :D Even if you have no intention of leaving but ya know companies qu33f their britches when someone wants to cancel.
