I Am a Small Business Owner

Would you give your staff their 2 week paid vacation and ask them to stay home now?

These are hard times .
My staff are extremely nervous about being working on people but can't live without pay.
Honestly I'm very concerned about liability as well.
But there is no guarantee that thing get better after 2 weeks 😳

The world still turns regardless of the virus . Those who are at risk of serious complications can certainly stay home and work from there if possible . The rest of us come to work . A cough or runny nose at this point is reason to stay home . This mass hysteria is ridiculous . People don’t have enough food to stay home for 2 weeks , life still goes on . Driving in traffic is still far more dangerous than this virus .

@Niloo all of mine are educated and don’t see a need for panic
lasergraph · 70-79, M
@TexChik We average around 15,000 deaths from the regular flu. We are even close to that yet with this virus. We don't shut anything down for the flu.

It’s rough babe. Have a meeting and see who would want to take time off and who wouldn’t?

Good hygiene and proper gear can help reduce risks

Masks
Gloves
Sanitizer
Alcohol
Disinfectants
Soap and water

@KaysHealingPath
Yep
We have some but there is none left in the market and everything is on back order 😳

Staff? I`ve never considered the wife staff, but I do like that idea. 😊Oh and she gets paid plenty. 🤨

Yes. It’s the risk business people have to take. Besides, governments usually help them in those cases. I hate how selfish people are

If they are symptomatic they are not coming in
That's for sure

I think you can count on things not getting better after 2 weeks. Yes, these ARE hard times. But if we all pull together, we can make it.

I'm a small business owner, and if I had employees, I would you give them their 2 weeks paid vacation and ask them to stay home.
Niloo · 46-50, F
@PhoenixPhail
They wa staying home
We are getting the hang of it slowly ...
Newfound · 41-45, M
I sold my company a little while ago which turned out to be a timely decision. If I were still owner I would give them the choice. They all have leave time and I wouldn't want to make them come in if it made them uncomfortable.
Niloo · 46-50, F
@Newfound
I'm glad you did!
Yes
I'll have a meeting today
Thereyouare · 56-60, M
Everybody should have to work for themselves for 1 year see what's like only get paid for what you do
I know we're all going to have it rough for the next few months hang in there best of luck
Niloo · 46-50, F
@Thereyouare
Thank you
It's been crazy
Things are changing so quickly
Provide the 2 week vacation, then they can sign up for the enhanced unemployment.

Then plan for the restart
Niloo · 46-50, F
@questionWeaver
I guess that's the best way to go
@Niloo remember, if they start unemployment and they have paid vacation remaining ... it creates a further 1 week delay in their unemployment

If they get the two weeks, and apply for unemployment after 1 week, then their payments will start on the third week ... uninterrupted
yeronlyman · 51-55, M
It’s a tough call
The long term viability of a business matters to be sure work remains

Our social system supports for €309 per week for being out with Covid19

But we’re all closed up now anayways
It could be mid April before we open again... depending on how things go
Niloo · 46-50, F
@yeronlyman
I like your social system !
I know NY is foong something similar.
Here , they recommended yesterday that we only provide urgent treatment and postpone all selective treatments and apply for unemployment .

I hope this beast goes away soon .

It is so good to hear from you again 🤗
yeronlyman · 51-55, M
@Niloo ah were the same
We will prevail... and bounce back
It will take time, but we will get there ☘️🤗
trackman11 · 61-69, M
It’s very hard to be a small business owner right now. By asking the question and considering how employees feel, you are showing good leadership. Thank you for providing employment. 🙂
Niloo · 46-50, F
@trackman11
I'm trying my best to consider everyone and everything!
We'll see how it goes
GoodGuyEP · 51-55, M
I've told mine I'd risk first two weeks no changes in pay or staff but that after that we'd have to hope things are going well or major shifts in pay or staffing would occur.
Niloo · 46-50, F
@GoodGuyEP
Hope you are doing ok so far
Thank you for taking the time to respond .
traceavery · 70-79, M
As long as the employees are continually receiving their pay... you can get bank loans to cover it and the loans will be forgivable from what I gather... check with your bank to be sure.
Niloo · 46-50, F
@traceavery
Working on it
The staff also applied for unemployment for now based on the accountant's suggestion
SW-User
Supposedly that’s part of the legislation package that’s about to pass the senate
Small business assistance for this very instance
Niloo · 46-50, F
@SW-User
I heard
I'm trying to figure this out 😅
Pfuzylogic · M
They are putting through legislation to bolster up the unemployment insurance for the virus crisis. You might want to check online what the new benefits are.
Niloo · 46-50, F
@Pfuzylogic
I'm on it!
Thx
SW-User
How has it been working with your staff?
Niloo · 46-50, F
@SW-User
They all filed for unemployment and are receiving it.
I have applied for PPP .If I get approved I'll be able to help them out ..
SW-User
@Niloo good to hear! I’m not a business owner, but I appreciate your diligence on others behalf.
Peaches · F
These are such scary times!😔I'll keep you in my prayers.🙏🏼✨💗
Niloo · 46-50, F
@Peaches
Thank you
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
What do you value more? Your profits or employees health?
Niloo · 46-50, F
@MrBrownstone
Its not about me making profit
It's about the fact that I'm not sure what to do after 2 weeks
Doomflower · 36-40, M
What kind of business?
Niloo · 46-50, F
@Doomflower
I'm in healthcare

So everyone , specially me get extremely close to pts
Doomflower · 36-40, M
@Niloo yikes. What will the patients do if everyone goes on vacation!?
Niloo · 46-50, F
@Doomflower
That's another problem I have 😁
wexxxxcccc · M
What is your business?
Niloo · 46-50, F
