Waste of time and money
We sell firewood to make ends meet sometimes. I was out on medical leave for 2 months, but back to work now. My husband was working while I was out on medical leave, but that job unexpectedly became intermittent. Gas prices are high making things more difficult. When we have trouble making ends meet we sell firewood. We do the whole process from cutting down the trees 2 years ahead to delivering the firewood straight to the buyer. We like doing it. We like helping people out by giving them a good price and delivering it to them.
TODAYS BUYER SUCKED!
They were further than we usually deliver, but the other buyer fell through and we got bills to pay. The trip probably costs about $50 in gas and lots of buyers sometimes give tips.
So we drive all the way over there and the couple comes out in their matching brand new work gloves and say we dont have a full cord.
The woman starts saying how the last person that brought them a cord of wood had a trailer and more in the back of their truck. She went on to say how a cord of wood is 8 x 4 ...and thats when I stopped listening. I told her if they dont want it we'll leave. I walked out and told my husband they said its not a full cord. He said fine lets go. I turned around and the couple was already back in the house. My husband hopped out ready to go yell at them but luckily turned right back around and got back in the truck.
A cord of wood is 128 cubed square feet.
The lady was right. 8 ft x 4 ft x 4 ft = 128 cubed sq ft.
Out trailer is 10 ft long and 5 ft wide. We stack higher in the front of the trailer (under 3 ft) and lower in the back (over 2.5 ft). You still use the same formula to find the volume, but change the values.
Duh! And thanks for wasting our time and money.
Oh well, not everyone out there is like them.
