I'm new to the group!

Aloha Buddhism Similar Worlds,

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself as I am new here. I hope to get to know you all as we discuss Buddhism. Feel free to introduce yourself as well!

I have not taken any specific vow to be a Buddhist but I find myself aligning with the teachings of this wisdom tradition and am on a journey of exploration as far as Buddhism. I have been meditating for about 10 years and for the past year and a half have been taking a meditation course called The Path of Meditation that Leads to Living Aloha. It truly is a wonderful course (if you are curious please ask and I will elaborate) with a very knowledgeable teacher. I have long considered myself spiritual and not religious. In fact, it is my spiritual nature that keeps me going on the days where life feels heavy. I recognized my own sense of suffering rather early on in life but did not have the words yet and the framework to understand it until later. I have a tender heart- where if I were to expose myself to too much of the sadness and terrible aspects of life I might crumble. There is so much greed, hatred and delusion in the world but at the same time the beauty, radiance and luminosity of the world is too great to fathom and I am in awe of this paradox. How can we hold these two opposing aspects in ourselves?

I could tell you my name, my profession and my interests but do those details really matter. I could instead explain that my personality is the whole of the Universe. That I do not exist apart from any of you and that we indeed are all one. Actually, there isn't even a me, in the traditional sense of the word- just the elements that have come to form what we call a human being. All is concept and empty. I am a wave in the great ocean that will seem to exist for a time and in a flash retreat back into the emptiness that is everything. I am consciousness experiencing itself in the form of a person.

Who are you?

Welcome! And thank you for describing yourself in terms of your philosophy

@BiasForAction Thank you for the welcoming spirit! I am more curious to get to know the philosophy of others as well rather than names, interests, hobbies and jobs. What do you stand for? What gives you purpose in life? What are your joys? How do you handle your challenges? I'm after things of substance!
@curiouspirit I’m taking a short work break but let’s just say I believe in the power of the human spirit. More to come…
