I Feed the Birds

Been putting peanuts out in a feeder for ages only to empty it when nothing is eaten. Nearly stopped getting them recently. Then suddenly most days this week a family of four Great Tits have been enjoying them 😁😁. I'll get some more tomorrow

Just a quick note to those who feed birds with peanuts. Sore your peanuts carefully and do not allow them to become wet or mouldy. Aflatoxin is a potential contaminant and develops in these conditions on 'grain' feeds. It can be fatal - and has been - to birds.

@EugenieLaBorgia thank you

@EugenieLaBorgia always store mine dry indoors. Also why I bin those not eaten which was why I was frustrated buying them
@SW-User Oh, they are devils! In the cooler times here, the sparrows are often seen under the bags pecking away at the smaller pieces which drop on the floor!

Black oil sunflower seeds, the birds just love, my mother would go thru a hundred pound each winter season....

They avoid peanuts during the nesting season as they’re too big and can choke the babies. I take away the peanut feeders around feb/march and replace them with high fat suet pellets, sunflower hearts and mealworms which is much better for the growing little babies. I’ve put our peanuts feeders back up now and the tits are loving them 😊

If you just started,takes a while for birds to find it. But if you keep feeding,they will keep coming back.
