The Wild Birds Ate Most Of The Suet Block That I Hung On A Branch Before The Ice Storms Begun…

I went outside to replace the suet block, heard a cardinal singing in a tree. Held up the suet feeder with the new block and waved it at the cardinal to show him he has a new one to pick at.

I always found cardinals eat in pairs.

@MrBrownstone Interesting observation. Do they face different directions? Because in theory this will make them better protected from predators.

@Abstraction It’s a male and female. Usually one eats flys away and the other flys in and eats.

@MrBrownstone I have seen female cardinals that love to eat bread but the males want sunflower seeds. I used to feed them at the car lot and watch them.

@MrBrownstone And peanuts. I have bought blends that had peanuts in it and they pick it out. Even shelled peanuts they will take and open them up.

@MrBrownstone I spent a year in US in Syracuse when I was 11. I loved the cardinals, blue jays and woodpeckers in particular.
