This month's update on the looking after my dad's pigeons

I'm finding about one dead rat every week. The guy at the shop told me to keep putting the poison out and keep the pigeon feed under cover. They'll eventually trickle away. I do hope so because I was confronted by an adolescent one and it screamed such an awful cry at me. Took it on a stick and I carried it outside. I need to tell dad's neighbour that we are using rat poison. Her cat is a nice one but can't catch rats. Fearing that she'll eventually do that or will just come across a carcass of one. My dad's garden looks a mess. Haven't yet found the time to cut his grass. Moreover, dad broke his thirty year old hedge cutter earlier in the month . I got him a new one. He's been upset eversince. Even told his doctor about it. Today I took it for repair. The new one still needs a charger. The shop didn't have a charger left any more. Can you believe that? Anyhow, the repair guy looked and sounded nicer than the salespeople. I'm almost sure that dad's ancient hedge cutter will be fixed. Dad has already told me that the new one was on my name. He's such a little schemer. I'll probably end up with a new hedge cutter for a non-existing hedge. I'm still worried about the rats though. The pigeons are getting scared. Certainly in the cots with less adult or adolescent pigeons arounds. I do hope that the problem will solve itself before I need to take some of the pigeons away. One cot is getting a bit too crowdy. I've started to put on plastic rings on the pigeon's paws that I want to keep. That's my agreement with dad. Keep all the pigeons that are ringed. I do hope he either stops giving away youngsters without my knowledge or looks at the rings in order to keep them. Some of them are still from my grandfather's breed. His pigeons were terrific flyers at the yearly Barcelona flights. That's about the furthest they let them fly. Just over 1,000 kilometers as the crow flies. That's absolutely amazing. They did that distance in two days and nights. No flying from dusk till dawn though. Grandfather's pigeons were always in the front flock coming home.
