😞 This is sad. I just looked it up now:
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) is implementing a highly controversial strategy to kill approximately 450,000 barred owls over the next 30 years across Oregon, Washington, and California. The sweeping management plan aims to prevent the extinction of the native northern spotted owl, whose populations have plunged by up to 90% in some areas due to intense competition from the larger, more aggressive barred owl.

What is the problem with them?

A "management plan" because obviously we can't manage humanity who has invaded and destroyed their natural habitat and upset the balance of nature.
