I feed her from my hand every day and I practice having my other hand around, or opening and closing my hand, without trying to touch her

If I lift my hand in the pigeon-shape, she will sometimes initiate play

If I lift my hand and she jumps back, I just go back to feeding her 😊 it's taken a while! But she did also live here for a few weeks, so there's that

@caccoon I think Eurasian doves are more shy in general, even the bravest of them won't let you touch them, even after now 5 years of handfeeding them 😅 plus I began interacting with them when they were already grown up

@Elessar that makes sense! We also have mourning doves here and they are way more shy than the rock doves

But yeah I think the fact that she lives here and I helped her survive she is trusting of me 😊

@caccoon I think Eurasian and Mourning doves should he more or less the same, in terms of bravery 😅 so yeah, much less than ordinary pigeons

Yeah (: I picked up and hosted a young Eurasian a few years ago (it didn't even have the collar yet) that had lost the tail, but I brought it to a wildlife rehabilitation center an hour away from here so I've never seen it again unfortunately 🙈

@caccoon Probably more than the gull that had nearly escaped the cardboard containment by the time I drove it there 😅

@Elessar oh god trying to contain a gull would be difficult

@Elessar they're quite big as well and have a huge wingspan ahaha
