The small cost of joy

When we downsized from our three bedroom home to a two bedroom ground floor apartment we found ourselves with french windows opening onto a small patio. The view beyond is of a recreation park. The first thing we got was a bird-bath. In fact, being cheapskates we made do with a terracotta plant-pot base plate from B & Q, £4. It has served its purpose well. The joy given watching the birds having a bath, robins, blackbirds, sparrows, and more. Sometimes, strangely, the local ducks from a pond over 50 yards away like to waddle up in a little group and take a drink.

Perhaps your bird bath has cleaner water than the pond?
@Nelladell Never thought of that! The pond did get covered in a type of algae a few years ago and the pond has been dredged. It's not very deep but the duck population seem happy enough on it most of the time.
