@AbbeyRhode I drove to Oklahoma City today but didn’t see one this Veteran’s Day. I did a few years ago and it flew down pretty low across the road and I got the best view of one that I’d ever seen. Just as I was thinking of my mother, who was a disabled Veteran and what she had sacrificed to serve in the military after WWII. I did see 4 hawks in various places as I was driving, and it’s always a good day when I get to see hawks.

@cherokeepatti Oh, that's lovely. I've never seen one in the wild.

@AbbeyRhode They were nesting out at the lake east of the city over 30 years ago when they were still endangered. The population has increased to where they are migrating to other lakes in the area too.

@cherokeepatti It's good to see that they've made a comeback, and that the Democrats haven't declared war on them yet.

@AbbeyRhode I think outlawing the use of DDT was what helped them come back plus severe penalties for any asshats who got caught shooting them.

@cherokeepatti I saw a video of a vet who rescued one with a broken wing. He had him several weeks.

They are not pets. When he set him free he bit his hand. Lol

@Slade There is an animal rescue center south of here in a rural area and the lady rehabilitates many such birds and other wild animals. She always releases them after rehabilitation. Some of the ones that were rescued in the last few years were suffering fro Lyme disease and they had to be put on medication and they recovered.
