I Love Birds

We've considered, at times, getting a parrot as a pet. Anybody want to share their experiences, good and bad? I know they can live for an incredibly long time - long enough that there's a good chance it would outlive me and my wife at this point. What else should somebody know about this sort of pet going into it, though? What's the one thing you wish somebody had told you before you got your bird?

I dont have a parrot but I have smaller birds and a cockatiel.
Something I wish I had been told was that they have verrryyyy complicated personalities at times.
You just dont know what you will get until its home.

@SW-User Thanks! Yes, I'm open to any advice - not just about parrots.

I've heard parrots often bond most closely with one person. Is that true for the birds you've had as well?
