Synthetic life without sperm or egg

Natural and synthetic mouse embryos grown by developmental biologist Magdalena Zernicka-Goetz’s research group.
Two research groups have developed mouse embryos “In vitro” from stem cells. They have lives of 8 1/2 days out of a 20 day gestation period. They also face a challenge of getting beyond the 11 day hurdle without a placenta.
This would allow a lab to not have the need for animals from outside sources to test with since they can be grown in house.
The fact that two groups replicated results validates the process. Good research is always replicated by a second group.
This also leads to cures for humans and there is a 14 day rule on human stem cells currently in regards to ethical practices.

I saw a reference to this yesterday in my alumni newsletter https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-022-02334-2

I started reading the article, but not done with the detailed references. One of a half dozen or so projects nearing fruition, to produce organs with no need for a human donor.

@Northwest
I do get the Nature newsletter.
I pulled this from there.
You will notice in my post the link in quotations.
This is not for human organ transplants even though that might be a future aim.
It is simple using stem cells to skip the conception process which in and of itself is a first of kind.
It is also good to see the process replicated, many times that will be skipped because of cost and claims will be made that shouldn’t be!
