@GoldnJulz In the UK they are/were used by leaflet distributers to mark their route direction on the corner of junctions. This would tell a van driver where they'd gone so to locate and refill their leaflet bag. This was a long long time ago when I did teenage casual work for some pocket money! Expect they use share location apps now.
