A question for believers.

For those who believe in the supernatural, an afterlife, etc, etc - what was the single moment you went from a skeptic, or on the fence to a full fledged believer? Or was there one single moment?

I know, I know, there are a lot of non believers out there - hell, I'm probably one of them most of the time. But this question is for believers only - which makes sense because if you don't believe you couldn't answer this question anyway.

I'm the one in a million that was properly taught in school. Nature provides afterlives and the supernatural doesn't exist. I know all the arguments and evidence for this.

@SW-User Out of curiosity, how does nature provide an afterlife. Do you mean like decomposing and supporting new life?

@Ynotisay A proper understanding of how possibility is doled in space-time reveals that we get an infinite and uninterrupted series of worthwhile lifetimes.

@SW-User Oh. Is that proper understanding? Uh...OK. I think my proper understanding is a little different.

@Ynotisay You know how to interpret space-time?
Ynotisay · M
@SW-User No. And neither do you. What I know is when living things die they are consumed by decomposers and non-cognitive molecules and gases are released in to the atmosphere. Sure makes life easier when you don't have stretch to create an illusion to placate fear. Works for me. Doesn't work for everyone.

@Ynotisay I value higher learning. You've stagnated at a low level.
@Ynotisay - I am all good with that. However, science doesn't explain everything. For example, science doesn't explain our self aware-ness. What people call our soul. The closest anyone has gotten to explain our thoughts is to say it is energy. Our brains fire energy. Our neurons fire up and voila! We are self aware thinkers. But science can't explain why or how.

And then there is this... what I believe is a very compelling case for "ghosts" or supernatural events: Science states that energy can not be created or destroyed. This is science 101. Energy just gets used elsewhere. So, if our "soul," our self aware selves are essentially just a collection of energy stored in our brain (making our brain a kind of battery) - what happens to that energy when we die? Energy can't be destroyed, right? If enough energy remained together - and not scattered around the globe, could it be possible that that "brain energy" could somehow lead to what we call a supernatural event? Hell, other supernatural events could be explained this way - past life experiences and such - because if enough "brain energy" happened to be absorbed from a close by person - the energy may be absorded in our brain (the battery) and be strong enough to still hold a memory from a previous person.

Obviously, all theory - but it would explain a lot - and it all uses science as a base. Memories = energy stored in the brain. Energy can not be destroyed.

If this was "actually the case" that would mean that a lot of supernatural events would actually be science. But it all comes down to science not being able to explain our self aware nature. Science saying that all our thought processes are electrical. Science saying that energy can not be destroyed.

No matter what...it's all still fun to think about. For me anyway.

@Ynotisay Wow. So ignorant. I rate you 6% perceptually aware and with a serious attitude problem.

@ReaperLinda Science easily explains awareness. An energy matrix of sufficient and correctly linked complexity produces awareness. There's no reason to overthink this explanation. It simply is.
