Have you guys heard of the desert ghoul? 🧞

In the Arabian folkloric sense?

It is considered a mythical creature that appears and disappears suddenly at night in the desert and dark isolated places.

It looks like a moving flame 🔥and believed to be a form of demon/jinn that leads people astray in the darkness to get them lost.

There are many sightings and stories of these strange lights since the ancient times.

They look like this:

Some people try to take a more scientific approach and say they are insects that reflect lights but nobody knows for sure. Many times they appear in absolute total darkness without any light source. Also they can be big. Like a ball of fire.

I don’t believe or disbelieve them but I find them intriguing for sure. Lol

Any similar stuff from your culture?

I’ve heard of swamp lights and they are believing that it’s gas from the decaying matter in the swamp that is causing it, maybe it ignites or whatever.

Yeah but this one happens in a dry environment so I wonder @cherokeepatti

@SW-User i wonder if it’s some other type of gas that is escaping from the earth through the desert sands?
SW-User
I'm not sure @cherokeepatti

@SW-User In the western part of the USA there is a large desert that the native people say has shapeshifters that will chase cars and cause physical harm to people. There are other names that they have given them, the Navajo people call them Skin-Walkers. From what I have read there are natives who have ventured into dark witchcraft and they are thinking these are demon spirits that they have conjured up and now inhabit the desert. I used to think I’d like to drive through the desert area but after reading accounts of people being chased while driving at night and these creatures whatever they are chasing them and getting right up to their car windows and looking in at the occupants of the vehicles I think it’s a terrible idea. I’ve only been through the desert while we were driving on an interstate highway that had regular traffic day and night.
