I Believe In Ghosts

I visit my parents' house from time to time. They live nearby a cemetery. My mom used to work at a group home that was right next to it. A lot of weird things took place late at night. Until recently, I'd kept in touch with one of the girls who'd lived there back when. She and my mom saw and heard things in that home. Creeps me the hell out.

I just left mom's house, and I drove past that group home to get to the main road. They put a statue of Mary in the yard there. (Why?!!! Don't they know those tend to get haunted and do scary things like cry blood?!) 馃槺

I looked away and refused to look back at it. I know it's silly. I know. Still, people do see weird things in that neighborhood. I don't want to be one of them.

With a cemetery nearby, it's only natural they think of death often. If you expect to see a ghost, you probably will. Not because there is one, but because you tell yourself there must be.

That wouldn't explain any of the things they saw. @Madhatter
Madhatter31-35, M
@SW-User It explains seeing ghosts. Is that what they saw?
SW-User
No, it doesn't explain it. (Sheesh...there's always one) @Madhatter

@SW-User Just because you don't like an explanation doesn't mean it isn't one... No need to be a meanie...
SW-User
@Madhatter I wasn't being mean. I was just saying that there is always someone who wants to chime in with contradictions. What for? Compulsion?
And it isn't an explanation because you don't even know what it is that they saw. I haven't described any of it. You dismissed it automatically without even knowing what it was.

@SW-User You said they saw ghosts, so I talked about ghosts. I asked again for confirmation. So was it ghosts they saw? If yes, I have an explanation about ghosts. If they didn't see ghosts, I apologize for misunderstanding. I thought we were talking about ghosts. You said you knew it was silly, so I thought you would be interested in hearing from someone with a point of view that doesn't believe in ghosts. If I knew you only wanted to hear from people who believe in ghosts, I wouldn't have said anything. Now I know.

My fear of the statue was what I was calling silly. I don't mind talking to or hearing the views of someone who has different beliefs/ideas/opinions than my own. But I'm never interested in closed mindedness and arguing with a random person. Your way of approaching the subject shows that that would be you. So no thanks. @Madhatter

@SW-User To be fair, it wasn't an argument until you shut down my reply. I'll take closed-mindedness, but you can't pin the argument on me. :p lol
SW-User
yeah, if I'd just not responded at all, there would have been no argument. That would have been better of me. 馃榿@Madhatter

@SW-User That's one way. Or said "maybe." Or literally anything that wasn't essentially "shut up"
@Madhatter
Makes a lot of senses. You know of demons supposedly feeding off fear? If you think you're being haunted by a demon, you'll get even more afraid. Demons who feed off your fear to be able to claim your soul don't exist - they actually are a giant metaphor for your own evil side. So when you fear that you'll be haunted by demons, you'll probably get haunted by your own demons. Not because they exist, but because you strongly believe they exist. The human mind is so powerful, science can't even explain much of it.
