Direct Access to God: The Gift of Jesus’ Priesthood
I hope you will discover the beautiful truth of how Jesus’ sacrifice gives us direct, personal access to God—no one stands in between, but Him.
Have you ever wondered why some roles from the Old Testament—like the priesthood—no longer exist in the same way today? Or why the question of whether a woman or a man could serve as a priest isn’t really the heart of the matter? Scripture gives us a beautiful, clear answer.
In the Old Testament, priests offered sacrifices daily. Their work was demanding, repeated, and never fully removed sin. But Hebrews explains that Jesus offered Himself once for all—a perfect and complete sacrifice (Hebrews 7:27; 10:11–14). His sacrifice didn’t need repeating. His priesthood is eternal, because He lives forever to intercede for us (Hebrews 7:25).
Scripture also reminds us that there is now one mediator between God and mankind—Jesus Christ(1 Timothy 2:5). He didn’t just make a way; He is the way. Through Him, we have direct access to God. We no longer need a human priest—male or female—to bridge that gap, because Jesus has already done it completely.
What is so comforting, is that while His sacrifice is finished, His care for us never ends. He continually brings us before the Father, standing for us in love. Our access to God is open, secure, and eternal—all because of His perfect work.
Reflection & Prayer
Here's where we can take a moment to quietly reflect: your access to God is direct, personal, and permanent through Jesus. You do not need anyone else to stand in your place.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank you for being our perfect High Priest. Thank you for offering yourself once for all and for always interceding for us. Help us to come boldly to your throne, trusting fully in your finished work. Teach us to live with confidence in your love and guidance every day. Amen.
My Prayer for Readers:
Lord Jesus, as your Word has been shared, I pray that each reader feels your presence and love. May they experience the joy of knowing you as their perfect High Priest, and may your truth settle in their hearts. Help them to walk in confidence, knowing they have direct access to you and are always held in your arms of perfect love and care. Amen.
