Romans 8:37 says, “We are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”
To conquer is to be victorious over an adversary. To be "more than a conqueror" means we not only achieve victory, but we are overwhelmingly victorious. If the final score of a basketball game is 142–6, we know that the opposition put up a fight, but they were no match for the victors. The win was beyond the scope of a regular victory.
I know I have had victory in my life, as the Lord has helped me through these 53 years of knowing, loving, and living for him. He has helped me through things that would seem impossible, but he always has seen me through. Not because I'm more special than anyone else, as God loves everyone the same, and anyone can have victory through Christ, but because I trust Him to keep His word, and He always has. But don't forget that sometimes, the Lord has to tell us "no", when we pray, and that is to protect us at times, as he knows best, and he can see into our future and know what is best for us. I'm thankful for the times he told me, "No," as well.
These were things that would not have been good for me in the long run. God always has our best interest at heart. He has saved me from blood clots that threatened my life, also when I totaled my car one time and didn't have a scratch, in fact, twice, as a deer ran out in front of me and totaled my car that time, as well. The other time was when a drunk driver ran me off the road and it's sliced my car in half. Not a scratch He has protected me in so many ways through the years, including saving my sister's life and others lives where it looked like things were hopeless, but through God we do have hope. He even help me get through covid when I had it three times. He has helped many here. I'm really thankful to God for each and every day.
Satan is our adversary. He sends all kinds of life-defeating, joy-stealing attacks to threaten the well-being and faith of God’s children. Many of those attacks are listed in Romans 8:35–39: trouble, hardship, persecution, famine, nakedness, and sword. However, faithful Paul encourages us to stand firm in our faith when those attacks come, reminding us that not only will we win in the end, but Jesus enables us to win now.
Satan lacks the power to steal our eternal destiny, and he can not separate us from the love of God right now. Nothing we face, is too hard for God. If we are His children through faith in His Son, then we have His pledge of love and protection. In John 10:27–29, Jesus said, "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand."
To be more than conquerors, means we face the trials of life with the certainty that we are not alone. We have a mighty Father who fights for us. We approach the darkest valleys with confidence (Psalm 23:4; Romans 8:28). We have His promise of eternal life (John 3:16; Titus 1:2; 1 John 5:11).
Through Jesus Christ, believers have a surpassing victory over all challenges and adversities in life. This is not just a victory over obstacles, but a triumphant one, made possible by Christ's love and power. This ultimate victory is guaranteed because nothing—not even "death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation"—can separate believers from God's love.
The phrase "more than conquerors" goes beyond just winning; it signifies an overwhelming and complete victory over struggles and hardship.Through Christ: This victory is not achieved on our own but is a gift from God through Jesus Christ, who loved us enough to provide the way to overcome.
Freedom from condemnation:
Romans 8:37 also explains that through Christ, believers are free from the condemnation of sin and the fear of separation from God's love.
Ultimate security:
The verse emphasizes that no external force can ultimately defeat or separate a believer from God's love, leading to ultimate security.
