How Jesus Fulfilled the Role of Messiah

The belief in the Messiah is a source of hope and promise, a vision of a future perfected world, where justice and peace prevail.

If you're really interested in studying God the Father's will, and Jesus and his fulfillment of the scriptures as Messiah, it will be worth your while to read on, as the Bible tells us how Jesus fulfilled his role as Messiah:

Here's a breakdown of how Jesus fulfilled the role of Messiah:

1. Prophecies of his birth and lineage. Birth in Bethlehem:

The prophet Micah foretold the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2), which Matthew 2:1 records as being fulfilled in Jesus' birth.

From the line of David:

Jeremiah 23:5 prophesied the Messiah would descend from King David, and Matthew 1:1-17 and Luke 3:23-38 trace Jesus's lineage back to David.

Born of a virgin:

Isaiah 7:14 prophesied a virgin would conceive, fulfilled in Matthew 1:18-23 with the virgin birth of Jesus.

2. Prophecies of his ministry:

Preaching to the poor:
Isaiah 61:1, which Jesus quoted in Luke 4:18-19, speaks of preaching good news to the poor, which Jesus did in his ministry (Matthew 11:5, 21:14).

Healing the sick:
Isaiah 35:5-6 speaks of healing the blind, deaf, and lame, which Jesus demonstrated throughout his ministry (Matthew 11:4-6, Luke 7:20-23).

Cleansing the Temple:
Jesus's actions in the Temple, described in John 2:13-17, fulfill Zechariah 14:21, which speaks of a time when there will be no merchants in the Temple.

3. Prophecies of his suffering and death:

Betrayal by a friend:
Psalm 41:9 prophesied betrayal by a close companion, fulfilled in John 13:18, 19, 26 with Judas's betrayal of Jesus.

Sold for 30 pieces of silver:
Zechariah 11:12 foretold the Messiah would be sold for thirty pieces of silver, fulfilled in Matthew 26:14-16.

Pierced on the cross:
Zechariah 12:10 prophesied the Messiah would be pierced, fulfilled in John 19:16-18, 37 during the crucifixion.

Death for the sins of others:
Isaiah 53:5 speaks of the Messiah suffering for the sins of others, which Jesus accomplished through his death on the cross.

Buried in a rich man's tomb:
Isaiah 53:9 foretold the Messiah would be buried in a rich man's tomb, fulfilled in Matthew 27:57-60.

4. Prophecy of his resurrection:

Resurrection from the dead: Isaiah 53:10-12 and Psalm 16:10 speak of the Messiah's resurrection, fulfilled in Jesus' resurrection as recorded in the New Testament.

5. Jesus' own claims and actions:

Claiming authority and divinity:
Jesus made claims of authority over sin and sickness, and his actions reflected divine power, such as forgiving sins, healing the sick, and controlling nature.

His teachings and miracles:
Jesus' teachings, parables, and miracles demonstrated his understanding of the Law and his authority to interpret it, aligning with his role as prophet and teacher.

The fulfillment of the Law:
Jesus stated that he came to fulfill the Law and the Prophets, not to abolish them (Matthew 5:17). This fulfillment involved both adhering to the Law and offering a new covenant based on grace...UN-EARNED favor from God.

Jesus' life and actions consistently aligned with the prophecies about the Messiah, providing a powerful and compelling case for his identity as the promised Messiah of the Old Testament.

The bottom line is that Salvation is on an individual basis. If a specific individual has accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior, they will go to Heaven; if they has rejected Christ and his Plan of Salvation that could have saved them, they will spend eternity separated from God. The same applies to Muslims, Hindus, Jehovah's Witness, Mormons, and every other “group” you can think of.

We are all in the same spiritual boat, according to God; in need of a Savior. We have all missed God's message, if we do not realize that salvation is not about what religion/denomination, one is. In this way, we are all on equal spiritual ground...none above the other. No religion or certain group, makes rules for God and salvation. God told us in John 3:16, that Jesus died to pay for our sins, on the cross. The person of Jesus did, not any religion... and God the Father, according to scripture, did not leave any to guess about how to have salvation and eternal life in heaven, but told us that He both approved and appointed His Son Jesus, as the only Mediator between God and man, by which we must be saved. He did not give man the authority to change his plans nor think that he could.

1 Timothy 2:5-6 states that there is one God and one Mediator between God and humanity, who is Jesus Christ, and that he gave himself as a ransom for all. This passage emphasizes the unique role of Jesus as the bridge between God and humans, and highlights his sacrificial act of redemption. Jesus' sacrifice was a payment to redeem all people from sin. Amen Grace, A very Beautiful post.
All prophecies of The Old Testament were fulfilled in Jesus Christ. His teachings and miracles were extraordinary. The courage and endurance of the Apostles was extraordinary. His peace in our heart is extraordinary. Truly He is the Messiah and The Son of Living God, The Father and The Bible is the only scripture which gives peace from within.
@DanielsASJ Thank you, Daniel. Some missed his coming and that's such a shame. Yes truly he is the Messiah and the son of the living God. He is God incarnate. When people pray to "God", they're really addressing God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, three individual persons, acting always in complete harmony as One and that is backed by scripture. There is yet a prophecy in Daniel that coincides with Revelation where Jesus is coming back as King of Kings at the Second Coming and he will destroy all enemies of Israel and defeat the devil. Amen. Thank you for your beautiful reply and reminders of all these things.
