Our words have eternal impact. They determine where we shall spend eternity.
Some have called God a monster. Does this look like a monster to you? Hardly!
Signs of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit:
Continually rejecting God's offer of salvation.
Hardening your heart against the Holy Spirit.
Refusing to repent of sin.
Betraying the son of God:
Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus to the Sanhedrin in exchange for money, which is a sin of greed and treason. However, Judas's greatest sin was his failure to repent. Judas felt remorse after seeing Jesus would die because of his betrayal, but he never repented of betraying Jesus. Judas was called the "son of perdition", in John 17:12. The phrase "son of perdition" means "man doomed to destruction".
Insulting the love of God.
Attributing the Holy Spirit's power to demonic power.
Mocking and cursing God. it is a deliberate and malicious rejection of God's suffering on the cross to save us from the condemnation that sin placed on us all. God is fair. Sin is not. It is sin that condemns us to hell. Jesus' mission was to try and save us from hell, as we can see from the verse in John 3:16 and 17.
Sinful man has accused and rejected the sinless Savior of this world; pridefully determining that Jesus should be classified as a monster.
Matthew 12:31 states, "Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.".
This verse confirms that all sins can be forgiven except for "blasphemy against the Holy Spirit," which is deliberate and malicious rejection of the Holy Spirit's work. It also confirms that God will not be mocked. Sincere, heartfelt repentance and turning away from sin, asking Jesus to come into your heart and life as Savior, are necessary for forgiveness and the washing away of your sins by the blood of Jesus.
The Bible warns to be careful of what comes out of our heart, mind, and mouth. Words can damn a person. Even their own selves. Our words have eternal impact. They determine where we shall spend eternity.
"Life and death are in the tongue.” Proverbs 18:21
That means words have the power to create life or destroy our own soul. This verse confirms that people should be mindful of the consequences of their own words.
Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit refers to a deliberate and hardened rejection of the Holy Spirit's work, which can still happen today, by someone persistently refusing to accept the conviction of sin and the offer of salvation through Jesus Christ, even when presented with the truth; essentially, remaining in willful unbelief and deliberate opposition, despite the Holy Spirit's prompting to repent and believe.
