If you believe in God or a Creator what's your main reason for believing

If you believe because of scripture would you still believe if there was no scriptures. Or was it a personal experience. Or does it just make sense to you to believe in some higher power of some sort

I find it interesting that so few people can comprehend the complexity of reality. And what kind of effort it would take for a creator to exist.
The main reason god is connected to religions. The promise of an afterlife blinds people to the impossibility of it.
@DocSavage I’m not dumb and I definitely know how complex things are but I also don’t necessarily hold god (if one truly exists,) to some mortal limitations. So much is unknown but that doesn’t stop us from trying to find out as well.

I have always considered the concept of god too human. A god with unlimited powers, would probably still need a motive for going to all this effort , a reason to make something so completely different from his own nature. Humans are evolving and moving onward and upward. What kind of goal, could an all powerful entity have that would hold his interest for eons ?
You got to wonder why he does it.
@DocSavage too experience through us. If you are all that is, you probably crave most of all, to be less and experience that. Maybe god (if there is one,) is just a spiritual being craving a human experience. Who knows. I just take my journey and try to ease others on theirs. Be safe and be well. 🦋

Put yourself in god’s place. If you had a fantasy in which you had all Superman’s powers. Would you spend time dreaming up an origin story, or would you skip to the part where you save the day . Jumping tall buildings, flying faster than a jet plain, bang Lois Lane, etc.?
God creates a universe for whatever agenda, it takes him billions of years,
Apparently by simply willing into existence. Time has no meaning, so why wait ? If you get bored with it, after a few thousand years, you can replace it with whatever you desire, before you even know you desire it.
Nothing about god works on a human level. Yet it’s humans that dictate his character.
@DocSavage I agree with human’s dictating his character as bullshit. The rest was just limiting God in ways we don’t know he can be limited. I totally respect your opinion. I’m just saying that we don’t even know if time moves the same way for god (if one exists ) as it does for us. So a billion years maybe nothing or maybe god can move forward and backward in time and time as it is for god has no meaning as it does for us. My problem with religion has never been the god part, but more the people thinking the understand god and can speak and condemn for him. Definitely don’t think it would work that way.

Humans have been creating gods for centuries. We give them whatever power and abilities they need to get the job done.
Have you ever considered the idea that a creator, doesn’t need to be immortal for example ? All he has to do is set things in motion. After that, we don’t need him.
It’s the human need for authority. All man made, for our needs, not god’s will.
@DocSavage oh for sure, I totally see your point. I feel like a sprit guides me to help others. Could be all bullshit, but I think it matters little to the people at the homeless shelter and soup kitchen that I help. They just see a kind face. And ultimately helping others makes me feel a little less like a total piece of shit and my faith gave me that. So I’ll take gifts wherever I find them, even if I can’t definitely say where they are from.

A happy fantasy is more pleasant than a hard truth.
Here We’re talking the existence of god, not the illusion and the benefits that illusion brings.
@DocSavage I’ll keep my god, or illusion if that’s what it is. Gives me comfort and allows me to help others. Not sure, how we can argue that’s bad. faith is not the enemy. People that use what should be a light to guide as cudgel to beat others down are. Anything weaponized is a problem, including beliefs, politics, and hate.

@DocSavage and what about the people who are not religious. And so complex but coming out of nowhere ?
DocSavage · M
@Axeroberts
Who said anything about religion ?
You’re going on about a living, self aware entity that intentionally created the universe we live in. God is simply the usual title associated with creator.
Either way, you have no case for believing in one.

@DocSavage you did

@Axeroberts
I consider the idea, that the universe was in any way manufactured by a conscious, self aware entity ridiculous.
Most, if not all religions regard the creator and god as the same thing. They also give their gods omnipotent powers.
Even if you ignore any religious connections. The idea that there is a living being who designed and created the cosmos, is absurd. So we can leave religion out of this. Agree ?

@DocSavage i never brought religion into it 🤣

One other thing . Axrobert also stated that his creator is not affiliated with any religion. That he does not use supernatural powers and that he basically uses the laws of nature to get the job done.
Jesus and his daddy, do not come into this.

Despite his claim, I don’t see Axrobert as anything close to what I would call god.
