Religion is an "it", not an Entity! It was the person of Jesus, that died on the cross. Not religion.
John 3:16 and 17 confirms that. When you think about it, all religions are full of people that still have a sinful nature. So religions of this world cannot save us, nor their empty philosophies, as they are man-made. It was God who set the standard for salvation and He did not give man the authority to change that.
