Atheism is inherently nonreligious. That's the entire point. Atheists don't believe .
ABCDEF7 · M
@CelestiaStella Atheists also believe. They straight way believe that God doesn't exist. The agnostic believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@CelestiaStella Atheists believe in everything they accept to be true. Atheists believe in and follow the science regardless.
CelestiaStella · 22-25, F
@ABCDEF7 a lack of belief is by definition not believing in something. This is first grade stuff, man, come on. Atheists follow the science for x thing because there's evidence for x thing, not because they choose to.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@CelestiaStella Atheists are like women who listen to rumors.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@CelestiaStella Atheists believe that time exists and it can bend because Einstein said so. Are they not also members of a faith, those who accept what they are told?
ABCDEF7 · M
@CelestiaStella You believe something what you don't know by reality.

Say for example, @sree251 believes you are a wise woman, and I believe you are not a wise woman. And a third person named Joe say we can't know @CelestiaStella is wise or not unless we meet her in reality. @sree251 believes your being wise in positive sense, I believe your being wise in negative sense, but both @sree251 and I are believers because we start believing something that we don't know as reality, but joe is realistic person, not a believer.

So with reference to religious believes,
@sree251 believes God exists (believes in positive sense) > Religious
@ABCDEF7 believes God doesn't exist (believes in negative sense) > Atheist
Joe doesn't believes anything and says we can't know God exists or not with the current means available to humankind > Agnostic

So unless we don't have any proof that God doesn't exist, people believing existence of God in negative sense (Atheist) are also believers. But agnostic are not believers by not accepting any +ve or -ve believe and by accepting the reality as it is. i.e. no one knows in reality if God exist or not.

Unless you know by reality with proofs that God doesn't exists, "God doesn't exists" is a believe, and following this approach are believers.

All atheist don't follow science, they are just believers.

@sree251 so why don't you answer my question?
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Richard65 I answered it. I would call for an ambulance. I would also seek medical attention if I am hurt in an air crash or road rage.

I eschew modern medicine and the conventional way of life that needs it. I live a natural way of life and avoid people. This is why I only socialize and chat on the internet.
Richard65 · M
@sree251 you eschew modern medicine but you'd call an ambulance in a medical emergency. If you have a serious heart attack it's modern medicine that would save your life, as it would if you had to have open heart surgery. This is all science at work to save your life. It's not a religion. If it WAS a religion then it would be stronger than your belief in God as you wouldn't call on God to save your wife's life, you'd call on science.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Richard65 Hold your horses. Modern medicine is essential for living a conventional life which is dangerous and stressful. I don't live a conventional life. Consequently, I don't have a wife and will not ever have a need to call an ambulance for her. If I have a heart attack despite being healthy, it would be time to go. A heart attack would cause a loss of blood pressure and a black out as I slump to the floor. No ambulance for me.

Incidentally, a few weeks ago, a friend came to dinner. He had had a heart attack and did slumped to the floor. An ambulance was called. He was revived. He now has a pacemaker. When I saw him, I felt saddened. He looked pale, a shadow of his former bubbly self. He looked like a dead man walking. When I looked up on the pacemaker, I was appalled. Why do people want to keep on living, especially in a rotten world.
Richard65 · M
@sree251 that's a whole litany of straw man arguments. I know two people with pacemakers who thank the hospital every day for saving their lives and giving them more time with their families. Ive seen a woman cry with gratitude in a hospital bed after a defibrillator saved her life. I work with vulnerable adults whose lives are improved every day by science. Your own thoughts on life in general aren't the focus of the point you posted on here. Your view is wholly subjective and for every person who feels as you do, there's a hundred or more who thank science for saving their lives. It isn't a religion, it has tangible results in the here and now. We don't have faith in science, we're grateful we live in an age where it can alleviate so much pain, distress and sadness.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Richard65 I know that people are afraid to die; and yet, the world we live in is harsh and dangerous: poverty, violent crime and wars. It doesn't make sense why we want to create horrendous conditions to suffer in.
