There is one God, but three personhood. This is difficult for many to understand because we are not God. There is God The Father, God The Son, and God The Holy Spirit.

@jshm2 well... not that I agree with any Abrahamic beliefs, it actually does have a Jewish origin.

Why Hebrew has so many names for one supposed deity.

Look up Elohim, El Shaddai, El Olam, YHWH , Yahweh Jireh so forth and so on.

Like there was a belief in multiple deities.

And lets not forget the most common Hebrew form... EmanuEl. Defined as: God be with us. Or: Be with us, God!

Think of all the latin people who have that as a first or middle name.
