Do you know the power of God's Word?
“My Word… shall never return to me empty, but it shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11). God's Word can bring change in your life when nothing else can or will.
The Holy Spirit has transformed thousands of lives. I have seen the worst alcoholics and drug addicts, turn to Jesus for help, then transformed by the Holy Spirit to a brand new life in Christ, never to return to those addictions again. The same goes for prostitutes, whose transformation takes place by the power of the Holy Spirit upon turning to Christ in prayer. We don't have that kind of power and strength to turn our lives around in just one moment, but Jesus does.
God's Word is powerful because it has a purpose which He wants it to accomplish. Each chapter and verse is there for a purpose and reason. When we pray to Jesus, God the Father answers our prayers, solely in honor of Jesus' work and great sacrifice on the cross to save us. Not because of any works or good deeds we have done, but by the grace and power of Jesus. However, it is our prayer of faith that sets Jesus to action on our behalf, as our one and only Mediator between God and man. (1 Timothy 2:5)
He speaks to us through Scripture, our conscience, allowing us to know right from wrong, and through the leading of the Holy Spirit to a much deeper understanding and meaning of Scripture, as we pray to God. The Word of God is a manifestation of the mind and will of God.
Witnessing the faith of another believer encourages us to keep going when things get tough (Romans 1:12); gives us the opportunity to comfort those in trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God (2 Cor 1:4); and enriches us, as we hear how God has strengthened, guided and directed others throughout history.
"Heaven and Earth shall pass away, but my words shall never pass away." Matthew 24:35
