How many Gods exist?

If man was created in God's image. One God's image why are there religious wars. I am not a very religious person. However it is my belief that there is only one God. So I am confused, please enlighten me. Share your thoughts.

You are correct. Only one God. There are religious wars, because Satan wants it that way, to cause confusion in this world. He is said to be the author of confusion and doubt. He doesn't want Jesus to have the credit for being the Savior of the world. Satan wants no one to go to heaven. John 3:16 does NOT say, "For GODS so loved the world." He said:

To you it was shown, that you might know, that the LORD is God; there is no other besides him. (Deuteronomy 4:35)

Therefore you are great, O Sovereign LORD, for there is none like you. There is no God besides you! What we have heard is true. (2 Samuel 7:22)

You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me. (Isaiah 43:10)

This is what the LORD says, He who is the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD of armies: ‘I am the first and I am the last, And there is no God besides Me. … 8 Do not tremble and do not be afraid; Have I not long since announced it to you and declared it? And you are My witnesses. Is there any God besides Me, Or is there any other Rock? I know of none. (Isaiah 44:6, 8)

I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me, … (Isaiah 45:5)

So then, about eating the food offered to idols: we know that an idol stands for something that does not really exist; we know that there is only the one God. 5 Even if there are so-called “gods,” whether in heaven or on earth, and even though there are many of these “gods” and “lords,” 6 yet there is for us only one God, the Father, who is the Creator of all things and for whom we live; and there is only one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things were created and through whom we live. (1 Corinthians 8:4–6)

You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! (James 2:19)
