I realized i keep people at arms length even if they have pure intentions

It's just a defense mechanism because of all the betrayal i have been through in my life. It's really hard for me to trust people. My life and background i always assume eventually people will grow to resent me

Same dude. I've had so many people come and go at this point that I don't hold on to them very hard anymore. Probably feels kinda dismissive on my part and I'm working on getting better about it but it's so hard to retrain that instinct.
