What to do regarding eye inflammation?

I've had pink eye since March 17th, and only a few days ago have my eyes almost recovered, except for blurry vision. I used preservative based eyedrops last week from Tuesday until Monday, and I'm not sure if I should continue. I know these don't actually treat pink eye as they're OTC and meant specifically for temporary red eye. Is my blurry vision a result of post-viral inflammation or is it due to withdrawal effects of eyedrops? They say withdrawal can last for anywhere from hours to even weeks.

I used Visine Original Red Eye, and for the first half of last week I used it once for both eyes, only to double the dosage the second half. My vision the last few days is getting better, but the blurriness in frequency hasn't really reduced only the intensity. Sadly, even here in Canada with universal healthcare, they don't cover eyes and I'm not a minor nor a senior so I'd have to pay out of my own pocket. I read that post-viral inflammation can last for several weeks or even months!

They don't cover antibiotics if the infection is in the eye? I'm kind of surprised by that.

While I'm certainly not a doctor or nurse I have heard of people using OTC eye medication for animals on themselves. Google search says that's not recommended but I'm sure that's just a blanket statement to protect liability.
@Starcrossed sadly to get a prescription, I'd have to be examined by an eye doctor, which costs money from my own pocket. I can try to get OTC eyedrops that don't have preservatives, but they cost way more and have to be used quickly. My eyes have improved since yesterday as it has slowly over the week(s), so we'll see if I should by next Monday.
