Take the top 5 in the Grapefuit League and the top 5 in the Cactus League last year and you'll find that 6 of those 10 teams made the playoffs in October. In 2022, five made it to the post season.
Moral is if you''re very good in the spring, you got a better than 50-50 chance of making the playoffs. *
Teams in generally have only a 40% chance of making the playoffs (6 out of the 15 in each league).

PECOTA has the Redbirds with a 56.5% chance of making the playoffs and us at 39.5%. They got it backwards!
WS win, about 1%. The champs by the way (Tex) is at 1.9%.
St. Louis won't go from last to first. But we can go from 2nd to 1st. Addition by Subtraction. Hiring Craig Counsell away from Milwaukee will cost them four or five games and help us win four or five more games. That's the division there, everything else being equal. And their best pitcher exchanged feathers with another team.
