I Love Robots

I loved Marvelous Mike.

That aside, what do you think of the robo-world of the future?

It'll be awesome:

@NudasPriest Can you elaborate for me a bit??
NudasPriest · 46-50, M
@Platoscave I think automation, and especially 'AI', comes with some serious risks for society ... despite how cool robots can be.
Platoscave · F
@NudasPriest Can you talk about that a little bit?
NudasPriest · 46-50, M
@Platoscave OK, but just a little:

Automation widens the gap between rich and poor, as people lose their jobs.

Technologies, such as driverless cars, assume that hardware and software are infallible, which they simply aren't ... and I believe we'll see problems as a result.

Handing over decision making to algorithms is foolish, in my opinion ... they can only predict what the programmer has foreseen ... and humans do better in these unpredictable moments.

I believe technology should be used to do what people can't, or to do things that would otherwise endanger people ... and no more.

Still ... robots are fun to play with ...as long as we don't get carried away.

@NudasPriest ok thanks for talking about that! And actually I agree 100% with your analysis

Humans are really good at being good at stuff...when they actually are. You know?

Like decision making and working with alternative decisions and PRINCIPLES. And being good at juggling that stuff.

And also people should know enough not to build machines that will violate that "faith". That we have to always be a little bit smarter...just as a general precaution.

Stanley Kubrick, 2001 A Space Odyssey. That is a good source for thinking about this stuff I think...?

@Platoscave Thanks for listening to my extreme views ... hopefully technology will in fact be used for the betterment of all, rather than for the wealth of the few ... hopefully!
