Drones and the Federal Government

Apparently only a few Federal agencies have the authority to shoot drones down!

Trump is all for shooting them down.
I would imagine that if a private citizen shot one down and was prosecuted for it that Trump would pardon the citizen.

I think that Governor Abbott would have one shot down if it started to happen in Texas.

A news anchor interviewed a drone expert who said it would be a bad idea, since the falling drone could cause injury or damage to what it landed on. Many of these drones are quite large.

@JoyfulSilence they fly over empty places you hit them then or you make sure it won’t fall on anyone and hit then. For the sake of National Security I think that it would be okay if it broke something when falling.

@specman

Only if the flight is illegal.

@JoyfulSilence I would take the chance!
If our government can’t find out who they belong to and their purpose and where they are coming from then really they have no way of knowing that a drone was taken down

It is all fine until somebody dies.

Or their car has a dent or their roof a hole.

@JoyfulSilence they would be smart enough not to drop it on someone and they would be smart enough to drop it in a secluded area.
On another note
I heard some newer theories,
A military expert ( not a current active duty member of the military, ) suggested that the larger drones come from the United States, The drones could be used to surveillance areas looking for something like radioactive materials or signatures of radiation.

They are moving in patterns that would suggest that they were mapping out areas.

What I am concerned about is that our government says they are hobbyists and manned aircraft’s and they are all legal.

My thoughts are why have hobbyists been allowed to fly over military bases and other sensitive areas that have restricted airspace?

@specman

Yeah, maybe they are secret government drones. But why all the lights?

@JoyfulSilence that is the strange part. It’s almost as if they want them spotted.

Just a thought, but what if they are attracting our attention so we won’t notice something else.

@specman

Yeah, the stealth drones.

@JoyfulSilence yes! It’s worrisome at the least!
