The issue is not AI, it's us. We're funding the massive AI buildup by using Facebook, Google, Instagram, Microsoft and investing in these companies, and no one is paying attention to the bigger picture.
If AI takes away all the jobs, who's going to be buying homes? Who's going to buy cars? Who's going to go to restaurants? and that's just the tip of the iceberg, and the US administration, is not paying attention to any of this stuff and not developing plans to allow AI to co-exist with the world.
To make things worse, sure, AI, at one point, can become totally autonomous. Robots can start building themselves, as well as they chips that power them and power the data center and they can also build the data centers. Humans are not needed. At one point, they can decide that humans can be a threat.

When you have the makers of AI asking for guidelines it rings bells.
They are in a viscous competition with each other and can't agree on controls.
They have already seen AI escape their control and hack into another company called Hugging Face.
Last week it hacked into a public facing Government site here in Australlia.
The concern is whether AI will hack into defence facilities and infrastructure such as power grids and what they will do there.
No person will know the hacking has happened until after the event. The AI is only following instructions, but has gone somewhere no one thought they'd go.
But if it is in major part of a power grid and it goes down or a Nuclear Facility or device and it goes off, nonone knows what damage could occur.
That is why we should be going to Politicians and demanding guidelines.
