Pedagogical innovation illusion..

The constant push to adopt modern teaching methods and digital pedagogy is overwhelming a lot of times and very much unnecessary..stemming from an overabundance of theoretical changes that mostly detract from the natural flow of teaching.

Students require a stable and consistent environment, which gets disrupted by continually changing tools and resources presented in teaching training programs.

The problem of using AI in assessment and integrating it is no different.

This instability and experimental approach of current pedagogies essentially treat students as test subjects , while simultaneously undermining teachers' confidence by forcing them to constantly adapt to new, not yet proven tools, making them question their own foundational skills rather than trusting their professional instincts, which ultimately harms the learning process itself.

It is all an illusion of innovation.

Yes, change is necessary but so is stability. To each a proper time and context.

Very well stated. Are you in the education field ?

@Miram Awesome, my daughter is a principle of a middle school and blogs about team building. And struggles with new instructions from administration

Endless expectations

@Miram Yes and challenges as many of her students are ESL. Mostly hispanic

The most impactful innovation will be to be curious around the ones you try to help with pedagogical methods. If we’re not meeting them as individuals with empathy and understanding of what preconditions they exactly come with we can forget everything of making a difference as person or society.

Way too often we’re eager to put old knowledge on new bottles with a new brand new label and think that means a difference and isn’t in need of more investment into warm hands working together with them.

Dealing with people is about establishing comfort, trust, authenticity, relation not the least to make anything work.

@SUPERVlXEN Yes, it is a part of psycho-pedagogy. There is no shortage of works in the field when it comes to classroom instruction. If there is a lack in that ,in terms of scholarship, it would be between teachers' educators and teachers. The training part.

So even if you're teaching teachers to treat their students as valuable global citizens worthy of equality, compassion, love..etc.. whereas as a teacher educator or decision maker you treat teachers like machines..there will be no results to account for regardless of the approaches.

I find myself as student and a teacher dealing with these inconsistencies a lot , for example when a lesson is about critical thinking skills and the instructor is regurgitating without any time for discussion.

We humans learn by seeing and believing and building up experiences, not just by being told what the right thing to do would be.

We’re all students and teachers. Life is sharing and learning . I’ve been working with both kids as adults with special needs and been depending on my pedagogical learnings as instincts but foremost on my skills to establish contact and relation building. I use my curiosity to question myself and my surroundings asking what they’d be telling us if they’d be able.
I see very little stabilty anymore. Change used to be generational, now it's constant. And too often unnecessary. It's change because we can, not because we need to.

It's change because we can, not because we need to.

It is also a change that is happening to us, while we believe we have a level of control.

One of the topics currently being emphasized is how educators and teaching educators could become better equipped to handle digital pedagogy shifts, esp AI tools right now

There is so much focus on that, it is impossible to find single platform not trying to divert all research to those same problematics.

I am doing a contextual work to demonstrate how , even in the best case scenarios, teaching , learning , curriculums ,content are all becoming a consequence of the tools being implemented. The opposite is happening. We aren't being trained to use AI better..We are training AI to define our teaching, learning and control the shifts.

In didactics we used to look at learning process as a triangular relationship..our perception of it evolved to a rectangular dynamic. And now it is 🤷🏻 unpredictable.

@HikingMan

What are you referring to specifically because I am not aware of any theories that are purely the fabrication of billionaires? Are you talking about the US specifically?
