Who would take me out before The AI Machine fully takes over the world and takes control of us all?
Think about it
It’s already here. It’s in new cars, airplanes, phone networks, healthcare, government systems, and media. It has become more and more integrated into daily life.
I remember in the 1990s there was strong resistance to letting artificial intelligence into critical systems. Many proposals were even rejected. Yet now we’re closer than ever to scenarios people once thought unlikely.
People point to safeguards meant to keep humans in control. Still, AI systems continuously learn and evolve, and that raises reasonable concerns about unintended consequences.
Some call me overly cautious, but I prefer not to put my life entirely in the hands of an autonomous system. That possibility makes me uneasy.
