It's inevitable. It will evolve into the following branches (not necessarily in order of importance):
- Human labor - manufacturing - replacement
- Human labor - agriculture - replacement
- Human labor - transportation
- Hazardous duty (fire fighting, construction, exploration, space travel, etc.)
- Weapons, including robotic warfare
- Government control.
- Commercialization
- Medicine: preventive, intervention (minimally invasive and invasive and non-invasive)
- Sex
There is no stopping it
