Shouldn't gay people have a right to have their own state, like the Mormons have Utah?

I believe Mormons have learned that they do not own Utah. Polygamy is not legal even there.
@DeWayfarer The Mormons are kind of in charge in Utah.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays But they also believe in polygamy, which is illegal. Not even in Utah. Which is the main point.

Not saying that is right or wrong. But it is also a main belief in Mormonism.

@DeWayfarer Polygamy is absolutely not a belief in the Mormon faith. That ended in the mid-1800's. You're thinking of the FLDS, which is a fundamental sect of outliers.

@Graylight Tell that to Joesph Smith the founder.

The Catholic church used to allow marriage, too. It obviously doesn't now. Things change.

I lived in Utah.

@Graylight I am not for or against it. Just saying that given the current secular system that certain things will never be fully tolerated.
Like a Hindu President would never be tolerated. And that I can say is wrong!
@DeWayfarer Absolutely right![quote]

@Graylight BTW Catholics never believed in polygamy. That was Judaism. And they abolished it because they couldn't control incest. Too many cousins where trying to marry each other. So they got rid of it. Ironic that those teachings said little about it. They just wanted control. Just like the current system wants to control.

@DeWayfarer I never suggested Catholicism allowed polygamy; only marriage of its clergy members.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Graylight Your meaning wasn't clear on that since you didn't mention "clergy". I was forced to assume you meant a polygamy marriage such as Abraham, Soloman and King David in the old testament.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@DeWayfarer Oops. 😐️ I did mean clergy. But interesting point about Judaism, which I hadn't heard before.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Graylight Yes it is interesting, and with Abraham even more so since Muslims are one part of the Abrahamic religions. Note some some Muslim sects still adhere to polygamy. Not many but a few still do. All because of their ties to Abraham.
