After years of observation I'm convinced my nails on my right foot grow quicker/longer than those on my left foot.

Anyone else agree?

Fingernails grow faster than toenails as your hands are closer to your heart and get increased blood flow. Your dominant hand also grows faster than the non dominant hand. The index finger is the fastest growing of the Fingernails.

In answer to your question I don't spend time looking at my toenails. Your right foot is probably dominant and gets more blood flow than your left.

@KiwiBird fascinating. Well it's been a long time but I used to dropkick with the right foot.

Never observed that, but my fingernails (which I keep short) grow faster than my toenails, for what it's worth…

@OldBrit Watching my nails grow is at least as thrilling as watching paint dry...

@helenS :) this reminds me of when I was about 7 or 8 years old and we got an electric clothes dryer. Until then clothes was hung on a clothes line to dry.

The dryer had a front door window and an inside light.

For about 2 weeks we'd pull up chairs and gather around and watch clothes dry. We were one of the first on our block to have a dryer and a few of the neighbors would come by and joined the excitement of watching clothes dry.

@Heartlander New and exciting, at the time!
I still have no electric dryer, only an old-fashioned clothesline...
I have zero observations of ANY of your nail growth, hand or foot, and (thus) have no differential observations, either.

I suppose that differential blood flow due to, e.g., diabetes, neurological, or other vascular issues could result in a differential rate of growth.

Happens yes

i noticed that my middle finger grows longer than the others and faster...and nope, not because i use it...🤣
OldBrit · 61-69, M
@akindheart someone says here use leads to blood flow thus increasing speed of nail growth. Care to revise your answer? 🤨
akindheart · 61-69, F
@OldBrit you missed the tongue in cheek. i don't give people the finger. get it?
I dunno; I’ve never seen your feet. 😅
