I Went Barefoot To School

In our school bare feet are the rule for PE, dance and drama lessons. It鈥檚 fine and I used to love been able to wiggle my bare toes in the drama studio.

Sadly though I wasn鈥檛 allowed to attend school barefoot, which would have been so nice especially in the summer 馃槉

We did gymnastics and dance in bare feet. We also had to take off our shoes and socks for drama . . and we sometimes finished the lesson with grubby feet because they rarely cleaned the floor 馃槦

@lizzielost Feet can be cleaned though, and I always thought better barefoot than always being in pumps or plimsolls.

@GkB01 We didn't have the chance to wash after drama. Just had to walk around all day with grubby feet 馃槖

@lizzielost I only did drama in year 9 but it was required bare feet in the studio. We all removed our shoes and socks and left them outside in the corridor! Luckily I had drama last period on a Friday so I often walked home shoes in hand.

@lizzielost That's a shame, better chance of doing that after PE, I suppose. Did you do PE in bare feet?

@KatieJ That sounds idyllic! We could do it in our socks, and the boys mainly did, but those of us who wore white socks had a strong incentive to work in bare feet.

@GkB01 Yes, but we had to shower after PE. Plus the gym used to be cleaner than the drama studio.

@lizzielost I absolutely hate dirty white socks! I鈥檓 like why didn鈥檛 they just take em off instead of ruining them. It was bare feet for all which kinda looked cute in our uniform.
