As bad is the girl wearing leggings. We'd never have been allowed to cover our legs like that and if we didn't have our gym knickers we simply had to do it in our underwear knickers.
@lcclinton4 Agreed, it is dangerous for something like gymnastics where you need to grip with your legs. Teenage girls like leggings, but they shouldn't be allowed them for PE.
@GentleLucille there was a series of photos taken when I was at school of our PE class doing gymnastics. Most girls were wearing their PE kit, but you could also see a few, including me, doing it in our underwear!
@GentleLucille Yes, I bet they did! But it didn't reduce the embarrassment of me and the others who appeared on the walls of the PE department as well as in school literature, running round the gym in just our pants!
@lcclinton4 How evocative 馃槍 Running round is quite good as you keep warm and take your mind off your state of undress. But star jumps in just your knickers . . sooo embarrassing!!!
@GentleLucille Yes it kept us warm, but like you say, star jumps were pretty embarrassing! We all tried to cover our chests (even me, who didn't really have much to cover!) but you just can't do that when you have to do vaulting etc in a gymnastics lesson!

We had to wear plain white pants, so it wasn't embarrassing in that respect. I was at boarding school, so we couldn't get away with non-regulation knickers, but the day girls could - unless they forgot their PE kit, or we had an impromptu PE lesson!
@lcclinton4 And at least you weren't the only girl running around in her white pants! It must have been frustrating when this happened at boarding school, knowing that your PE clothes were in your room or in the wash, but still having to do PE in your underwear 馃槬
