I Am Morbidly Obese

It was like two worlds colliding at one point when I was watching TV the other night. It was some documentary about the space race, showing newsreel clips from the '60s. Everyone back then looked so thin, healthy and athletic, especially the younger ones.

And then there was me on the other side -- a young man who modern life, food and conveniences had rendered so fat and lazy that he could hardly bring himself to reach for the remote.

You have my empathy. Last year, I realized that in order to have an active life I would need to lose 80 lbs. At my age, with some health problems, it hasn't been easy. I have lost about 18 lbs.through swimming and eating a low carb low calorie diet. It is really hard for me! I struggle daily. I use Nutrisystem food for most of my diet. Preparing food is a major problem because I live in one room in a rooming house and share a kitchen with 5 other people.

Weight loss is essential for me. If I don't do this, I know I am headed for a nursing home, and I have a lot I want to do in my life. So it's really important.

If you need me as a diet buddy, please feel free to message me and we can stay in touch.

Don't hate yourself. You have a medical problem, not a character flaw.
